The Fender Stratocaster, commonly referred to as "Strat" is a model of electric guitar designed by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Freddie Travares in the early 1950s. It's a solid-body, double-cutaway guitar with one extended top horn. In fact, along with Gibson SG, Gibson Les Paul and the Fender Telecaster, it's one of the most common electric guitars in the world. Famous musicians like John Mayer can be found sporting a Fender Stratocaster.
A Fender Stratocaster is known for its bright, clean and twangy sounds. It features 3 single coil pick-ups, with the output selected by a five way swtich. The body is available in many different color variations, but is made primarily with alder, ash, mahogany or maple. The neck is bolted on, and the maple, rosewood, pau ferro or ebony fretboard is pressed onto the solid maple neck. Most Strats features a pick guard, but there are some variations where the pickguard is not present.
A Strat is an awesome sounding guitar, and they're available in a wide range of prices. The price is based on where they're made, how many features they have, components used and construction quality. A Mexican Strat, for example, can be found for as low as $200,while an American Deluxe Stratocaster cost upwards of $1600.
A Stratocaster is a great electric guitar, professional and affordable.
